Asheville Cotton Co. ~ $5 Quilt 2011
Please feel free to assemble the quilt
any way you wish, but this is the corrected layout for the smaller version of
quilt if you followed November's instructions for putting together the
"chunks" of quilt. The layout in December's instructions cannot be
completed if you followed November's instructions. Sorry for the confusion,
but hey, I made it almost the whole year without a mistake!

Help for Optional February Block - Applique Tutorial
1) Trace the image onto the paper side of your fusible webbing.

2) Rough-cut around the designs (cut larger than the pencil lines). I also like to cut the insides out of larger pieces, like this apple, so that the piece won't be so stiff when it's fused.

3) Fuse the fusible side of the webbing to the wrong side of your applique fabric.

4) Cut on the lines through all layers.

5) Peel the paper backing off the back of the applique, leaving the webbing on the fabric.
6) Place your applique pieces on the background, and fuse the appliques to the base fabric.

7) Watch the following videos for hints on how to sew around your appliques. Be sure to put a piece of stabilizer under your fabrics before you try to stitch. You will also want to be sure to use an open toe presser foot so you can see, and use your knee lift (Free Hand System)
if you have it.
