Quilt Club - Help with May Optional Finishing Instructions (Dresden Plate)
1) Cut out 8 Dresden plate pieces. Fold along the center line and sew along the
larger top of the piece, right sides together, 1/4" seam.
2) Trim the corner off and turn. Press.
3)
Sew the pieces side by side using a 1/4" seam. Start at the top (the
folded edge) because it won't matter if the bottoms line up or not.
4)
Press all seams and place on a 12-1/2" muslin square so that the
edges are 1/4" over the center diagonal line drawn on the muslin in
an earlier month.
5)
Slip a background piece of fabric under the Dresden plate. Make sure that
your background fabric extends at least 1/4" over the pencil line
drawn on the muslin. Baste the muslin and the background pieces together
and trim the background fabric to match the muslin. Applique around the
edges of the Dresden unit.
6)
Cut out the half-circle and applique to the center of the Dresden plate.
