Intro to Machine Quilting
Learn how to quilt by machine! We will use a walking foot for straight-line quilting and use
a darning foot for freemotion quilting.
We will also look at marking and basting methods,
tension problems and more!
Instructor: Robin Culbertson
Class Supplies:
- 2 Yards of Muslin or other plain, light colored 100% cotton
fabric
- Blue Washaway Marking Pen
- Quilting Clips (bicycle clips, quilt tamers, etc.)*
- Quilting Gloves (or Machingers, etc.) if you have them*
- Walking Foot to fit your machine - required**
- Freemotion Foot and/or BSR (if you have it) to fit your machine - required**
- Sewing machine in good working condition
- Good quality 100% cotton thread (Mettler Silk Finish) in two different, contrasting colors (same
brand and type for both). Use colors you'll be able to see on muslin (eg.
Royal and Red - or - Green and Hot Pink). No black thread, please.
- Invisible (monofilament) thread
- Cotton Batting about 36" x 45"
- Safety Pins (quilters' curved safety pins are nice) or Micro Stitch Basting
Gun
- At least one of the following sizes of sewing machine needles: Size
80/12, 90/14, and/or 75/11 Universal, Quilting, or Sharps
* optional, but very helpful... we'll have some for you to
try!
