Create a cloth doll with a unique personality. Start with a pattern for the head and once you see who that is, you will design a body to go with the personality. This could be a 'human' figure or a fantasy figure such as a fairy or an elf. You will end up with a pattern of your own and a unique figure.

Intermediate quilting is the next step up from our beginning quilting class! Beginning quilting is NOT a prerequisite, this class is also friendly to anyone with some quilting experience, but wants to sharpen their skills! Note: Machine Mastery classes are FREE for those who purchased their machines here at Asheville Cotton Co. Sorry, they're not available otherwise. You may take Machine Mastery as many times as you'd like, and in any order. No need to sign up, but be sure to check the website or call in case of severe weather, as we may need to cancel. The Care and Feeding of Your Machine An in-depth look at all of the basics, including types of needles and threads, cleaning, and what all those parts are.

Let's Start with the Basics. Seams, Hems, Finding Seam Allowances, Hemming Jeans, and a little Quilting. We'll also learn about memory functions and saving and combining stitches.

Learn how to make buttonholes, sew buttons on with the machine, a little bit about applique, and tie-quilting using your machine.

Gather It Up, Tuck It Down and Quilt it All Over. Learn all about gathering, pintucks and real tucks. We'll also learn about quilting, including using a 1/4" foot, a walking foot, freemotion feet, and the BSR if you have it.

Zippers, Piping, Couching, and Lots of other Fun Things. Learn all about piping, fringing, faggoting, bundling (yes, these are real sewing terms). We'll also do zippers (painless!), couching, and thread painting!

(For machines with Embroidery Function Only) Start from the beginning with your embroidery and we'll work on stitching out your name. Also, an in-depth look at stabilizers and embroidery threads. If your machine does multi-directional stitching, we'll do that, too.
