Butterscotch Bars Embroidered Table Runner

This is a beginner friendly embroidery class. Day one we will be piecing the simple runner that is made up of squares and strip pieced nine patches. A week later we will return with our finished top sandwiched with our batting and backing, and quilting it in the hoop with our machine's embroidery modules!

Required supplies:
A sewing and embroidery machine(s) in good working order, and a hoop for it that can fit at least a 5.5" square embroidery design.
"Custom Quilting on Your Embroidery Machine" by Amelie Scott - Available for purchase or order at Asheville Cotton Company.
This book comes with the embroidery designs on a DISC, so you will also need to be able to import these files to your sewing machine, EX a computer with a disc drive and a USB stick.
1/2 yard main fabric for large squares (more if you are fussy cutting a design)
Twelve 1/6 yard cuts of different fabrics in dark, medium, and light. These fabrics are for the 9 patch block. Small prints work best.
1-1/2 yards backing fabric (must be bigger than quilt top for quilting)
1/4 yard binding fabric
Craft size batting
505 basting spray
water soluble marker
Neutral or matching thread for piecing
Contrasting poly sheen thread for embroidery
Either enough embroidery thread for top thread and bobbin thread OR you may also use a bobbin fill in your bobbin, such as The Bottom Line by Superior Threads

IF YOU HAVE TWO EMBROIDERY HOOPS FOR YOUR MACHINE, PLEASE BRING TWO. Please bring a scrap of sandwiched fabric and batting that is the same weight as what you are using in your project to do a test sew out on. Trust me, this is very important!

We will be tight on cutting space with a full class, so please pre-cut fabric before class 1 if you are able to. Cut your main fabric into 6.5" squares, and cut your twelve 1/6 yard pieces into 2.5" strips. We will be piecing these in class 1.

All embroidery capable machines are welcome as long as you are able to fit a 5.5" embroidery within your hoop. If your machine is not a Bernina, Babylock, Janome, or Eversewn, then please speak with an associate before signing up, as we want to be familiar enough with your machine to be able to assist you with the embroidery process. Your machine must also be able to use one of the following embroidery formats; ART, DST, EXP, HUS, JEF, PES, VIP, or VP3, as these are the formats included with the book.
