11. "Along the Way" Pattern: Over and Under Rainbows by Colorful Stitches, Gylene X. Fitzgerald. Story: I took a workshop with Gylene Fitzgerald at the NC Quilt Symposium in 2018 and didn’t finish the quilt until January 2020. I did most of the piecing while my husband was painting my sewing room in early 2019—so the quilt came out of a time of personal dislocation and disorientation! I advanced my skills in piecing triangles, and tried Hobbs wool batting for the first time. Terry Shuler did the long arm quilting. I love how it turned out. It keeps me warm—while being very light weight. My husband’s Zen garden helped inspire the quilt name, “Along the Way.” I hope it cheers others in this time of dislocation and disorientation...as much it has cheered us.
