- Start Quilting book by Alex Anderson, available at Asheville Cotton Co
- A sewing machine in good working order
- 1/4" presser foot for piecing
- Cotton thread in a light neutral, like gray or beige, for piecing
- Cotton thread in a matching or contrasting color to your fabric for quilting (this can wait, as you won't need it until the last session)
- Straight pins
- Safety Pins
- A 6.5" square-up ruler
- A regular quilting ruler 5 or 6" wide by 24" long
- A 45mm rotary cutter
- Scissors
- Cutting mat, 24x36" OR 18x24" (smaller preferred, there will be 2 students at each table)
* Fabric required, per the pattern;
- "Focus Fabric" (Your main fabric with a larger print and/or more colors): 1 yard for outer border
- 6-8 medium or dark fabrics that coordinate with your focus fabric: 1/3 yard each
- Light neutrals: 2 fabrics, 1/3 yard each
- Medium to dark neutrals: 2 fabrics, 1/3 yard each
*Make sure between all of your fabrics, you have a good range of light to dark fabrics for contrast* You can see in our sample quilt, we didn't use any "neutral" fabrics, so as long as you have a wide range with lots of contrast, you're good!*
- Inner border: 1/4 yard
- Binding: 3/8 yard
- Backing: 1 1/4 yards
