(Let's Go) Crazy Quilting! with Robin

Are you ready for some FUN?! In this class, you'll learn how to create a crazy quilt without a pattern and embellish to your heart's content. You can choose the size of your project, from a table topper to a table runner, Christmas tree skirt or even a lap quilt. During the first part of the class, you'll learn how to create a crazy quilt block. In the second part, you'll learn tricks for how to use heavy weight decorative threads, some in the needle for decorative stitches, and others for couching.

• Sewing machine (if you have multiple machines, bring the one that has the widest decorative stitches), with cords, etc.
• Presser feet:
  
  • All the "normal" feet
  • Open Toe foot (#20/C/D on Bernina or #39/C
  • Optional but super helpful:
    
    • Couching Feet
    • Edge Joining foot
    • Basically bring all your feet just in case we can find a use for them!
• 14" squares of muslin (you'll need one for each block you create, so four would be a good start)
• Quilting cotton fabric in a variety of colors and patterns, but most should read as solid, marbled or with very little pattern. (Steer clear of non-cotton fabrics and batiks for your first project because it may be hard to get the decorative threads to play well). You'll need at least a half of a yard total for each block. We have plenty of fabric at the store if you find yourself needing more!
• Rotary cutter, ruler and small cutting mat (we will have a mat in the classroom, but you'll be doing a lot of cutting.)
• Travel Iron or Mini Iron and pressing mat or wool pressing mat (we will have an iron set up in the classroom, but you'll be doing a lot of pressing.)
• Glamore threads (the more the merrier) - we have in stock
• Spagetti threads (the more the merrier) - we have in stock
• Dazzle threads (the more the merrier) - we have in stock
• Blendables threads (the more the merrier) - we have in stock
• Cotton thread for piecing
• Bobbin fill for decorative stitches - Bottom Line, Deco Bob, etc. - we have in stock
• Any other decorative threads you may have on hand, whether for couching or for sewing in the needle
• Size 80/12 needles for piecing
• Size 100 Topstitch or Jeans Needles for the heavy threads
• Size 90/14 Embroidery or Quilting needles for the not so heavy decorative threads
• Pieces of old lace or ribbon or yarn or.... whatever you might have
