Jelly Roll Placemats

Make your very own placemat set out of 2.5" strips of fabric or a jelly roll precut! If your machine can do a zig-zag stitch, you can make a rug! You will have time to complete one of your four placemats during class.
Supplies
(Makes 4 placemats)
-Jelly Roll Rug Pattern
-One "Jelly Roll" OR 40 strips of fabric cut at 2.5" wide by width-of-fabric minus selvedge, about 42" long
-1 1/4yds 100% cotton batting 96" wide cut into 2.25" strips OR a pre-cut jelly roll rug batting 2.25" (no scrim, no glue)
-Size 100/16 jeans sewing machine needle
-One large spool of thread, at least 1200yds, polyester
-Fabric Tube Maker by Clover (Other brands do not work)
-Straight pins, clips, or both if you have both
-Walking foot if you have one will be very helpful!
-Mary Ellen's best press is beneficial
-A basket or bin to catch the tubing in as it exits the back of your machine and off the table
-Sewing machine extension table if you have one! We will provide carboard to use as a "table" if you don't have one - you will need the flat space!
-You will need a sewing machine that will make at least a 5mm wide zig-zag stitch.
