Newsletter 10/11/20

We are currently open Tuesday through Saturday, 10a-4p. (Closed on Sunday and Monday.)  No appointment necessary. Check the front page of our website for any changes before you come, just in case.

Masks are required, and we have a limit on the number of customers in the store at one time. So far, this hasn't been much of an issue, and wait times, if any, have been short.

We are also helping people shop via email at ashevillecottonco@gmail.com. Just let us know what you're thinking, and we can put something together for you. We offer curbside pickup and $5 flat rate shipping on most items! 

This year, we've had a hard time keeping up with the demand for new sewing machines, especially in the entry level category. We're happy to announce that we currently have several from which to choose! We have literally waited months to get these machines.

Bernette 35
This is an affordable mechanical starter machine, perfect for someone just starting to learn how to sew! Two in stock.

Bernette 37
Featuring needle up and down and an LCD screen in an affordable package, this is a great starter machine as well. To pick a stitch, all you have to do is key it in, and the machine does the rest! You won't have to figure out stitch width or length unless decide to change it. We only have one of these left.

Bernette 38
This has all the conveniences of the more advanced machines, including needle up/down, adjustable presser foot pressure, three alphabets and a thread cutter! We just got two of these in, and I don't expect them to last long.

Janome 5300QDC
This is a great machine for the quilter on the go! It comes standard with a thread cutter, extension table, a quilting attachment kit and even an optic magnifier set in three strengths! We were thrilled to get three of these.

Bernina 325
A true Bernina, the 325 offers precision stitches, needle up/down, an extension tray, and bright LED light. It's the first Bernina in the line. We were especially excited to receive these, as we have been told they will not be available again for many months. We just got two of these.

Bernina 480
The 480 has 9mm wide stitches and a HUGE jumbo bobbin for uninterrupted sewing. It features presser foot pressure and even a thread cutter. You'll love the extra light and a little larger sewing area than the 3-series. We just got in two of these.

Please note that the prices you see at the links are MSRP, but in many cases we have sale prices on these machines. Almost all Baby Lock, Bernina, Bernette and Janomes are back ordered right now due to huge demand during the pandemic.  But don't worry; we're taking modest deposits to order machines. We are not taking in machines on a regular basis at this time, but do have an appointment wait list going. Please email us first, and we'll go from there.

We're also doing a new FB Live series called "Stitch Witchery" with Bethany and Sydney on Saturday mornings. They show how to make quick and easy projects and share techniques. Be sure to tune in next Sat., Oct. 17 when guest instructor Chris Eichner will be demonstrating the Mosaic Art Quilt technique, including some thread painting!

Prepare to be blown away! Bernina has just introduced two new Air Threaded sergers. You can see the overlock-only L850 here, Bernina L850, and the L890 cover stitch and overlock serger here, Bernina L890.  In addition to One-Step Air Threading, the L890 has a color touchscreen designed to make serging a breeze! I also really love the free-arm capability on these sergers. We now have both of these on the floor so that you can see how easy they are to use, and we're currently taking deposits for these amazing machines.

Bernina also introduced a 790 Plus Special Edition, with an amazing "Peacock Flourish" motif. We have one on the floor at the moment to show, but this is a limited edition, so we only have ONE of these coming that is not spoken for already! In addition to a fabulous bundle including special edition suitcases and 300 additional embroidery designs, this comes with a matching Bernina 480 with the peacock design. Just a heads up. Our email newsletter provider is retiring soon. We've been with them almost 20 years! So, don't be surprised if our emails look different in the future. It's still us!

Last month, I was honored to be chosen as the recipient of the 2020 Nancy Zieman Humanitarian Award by Baby Lock. This award goes to an individual who makes a difference in the community. As you all know, this award was a group effort! Our staff and wonderful customers always give and give and give when asked. Examples of your generosity include the ACC Customer Quilt Show to benefit MANNA Food Bank, the annual Stash Bash to support Santa Pal, Bra-La-La for Hope Chest for Women, Sewing for Hospice, and countless other examples of community involvement.



I can never thank our staff enough for what they've accomplished during this crazy year. I am doing the virtual learning with my grandson this year, which has taken an unbelievable amount of time. The girls have really stepped up and taken the bull by the horns, and I appreciate it so much! Next time you see them, let them know they're doing a good job!

I'm also humbled and grateful for our customers, who have really gone above and beyond to support and encourage us during this time. I know I have said this on every email, but I just can't thank you all enough! - Robin
