We're Looking for Fun Teammates!

We’re a Quilt Store Looking for a Fun Retail Teammate!

If you are:

  • Outgoing, energetic, creative, smart, and easy going

  • Flexible with an ability to handle multiple tasks and shifting demands

  • Reliable

  • Situationally aware (the last one standing in a zombie apocalypse!)

  • Able to take direction in a positive manner

  • Able to see a need and be proactive in solving it

  • Eager to learn the ins and outs of high service sales from a longtime successful retailer

  • Interested in a career (or second career) in selling high-end sewing machines and quilting supplies. No sewing experience is required if you're interested in and willing to learn.

And would like to:

  • Learn new skills in both sewing and sales

  • Learn how to help customers choose the right sewing machine and enable them to purchase the machine of their dreams

  • Work closely with customers to design quilts and enable them to be the best fabric artists they can be

  • Work with a close team of mildly quirky people

We offer:

  • A friendly, bustling workplace

  • Creative customers

  • Opportunities to learn selling skills applicable to any career, including entrepreneurship

  • A full-time position, or ½ to ¾ time positions

  • Commissions on sales of sewing machines, which can increase income considerably for the right person

Asheville Cotton Co. is a large, vibrant quilt store started from scratch 26 years ago by a husband and wife team. We have learned many things over the years, and are eager to find the perfect co-worker who loves to work with us. We like to think of ourselves as “enablers” rather than sales people and pride ourselves in finding the perfect fabrics and sewing machines for our customers. We are proud to have created annual fundraisers to benefit our community, including Manna FoodBank, Santa Pal and Hope Chest for Women. Over the years we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for various charities. We feel strongly that our customers are our friends and work hard to enrich those relationships. Work hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30am to 5:30pm.

Physical requirements:

  • Able to walk and stand for long periods of time

  • Able to lift 50+ pounds (a large sewing machine) - Although this is not a requirement, it really is helpful to us

  • Able to carry and move fabric bolts around the store (they’re heavier than they look)

Does This Sound Like Fun to You?

We’d love to talk! Please email us at A resume is not necessary, but a list of work experiences is helpful.
