We are beyond grateful for your love, hugs, well wishes, donations, fabric orders, and monetary support during this stressful time. Your generosity never ceases to amaze me!
Quilts and Pillowcases
I've been asked numerous times lately if we can take donations of quilts and pillowcases to give to hurricane victims. Yes! We are taking donations of new handmade quilts and hand-crafted pillowcases. We'll distribute them to those who need to know someone out there is thinking of them!
We have one place already, but if you know of an organization that can distribute these items or if you have questions, please email us at ashevillecottonco@gmail.com.
Used Sewing Supplies
We also know of several sewists who lost everything in their sewing rooms. I know there will be more. While sewing is not life-or-death, you all know how therapeutic it can be. Losing it all has to be pretty awful! Therefore, we are also taking donations of extra sewing supplies you may have on hand. Think of everything you might need to set up a sewing room, from rotary cutters, mats and rulers to thread, irons, and marking pens. Please don't purchase anything, as we can get things at wholesale cost. If you want to donate money toward this, you can purchase a Gift Card for Others here.
If you or someone you know needs sewing supplies due to Helene, email us at ashevillecottonco@gmail.com so we can add them to our list.
Annual Stash Bash for Santa Pal
Mark your calendars! You're going to want to be here the afternoon of Tuesday, November 12th (3-6pm) for our annual Stash Bash charity event. We'll have snacks and lots of great deals!
Stash Bash is a raffle and silent auction we hold each year to raise money for a wonderful charity that allows local families in need to choose specific Christmas gifts for their children. This year there will be an especially critical need. Learn all about Santa Pal here at santapal.org.
De-stash your stash and bring your extra sewing and craft supplies now until November 9th. We accept fabric, kits, books, magazines, patterns, machines, yarn, unfinished projects, finished projects and quilts, and just about anything else sewing related. Plan on coming out and picking up some great deals!
Our ACC Family
Of all the fundraisers we've done over the years, the hardest one has been for my daughter. It's emotionally difficult (and humbling) to be on the receiving end of a fundraiser. Alice Drue, who works in the store with us, was able to escape the flood waters of Mill Creek in Old Fort with her boyfriend Chris, her cats, and the clothes on their backs. The water took everything else as they watched. We are so grateful they and their neighbors escaped. If you want to see photos and hear more of the story, click on the GoFundMe link below.
Many of you have donated already, and we are so appreciative! The money raised goes toward a place to live and replacing lost items, including tools that Chris uses at his job. If you'd like to help, we have:
PayPal - username: robinsewz@yahoo.com (note this is sewz with a "z"). Please specify if you wish the money to go toward rent and other store expenses, or to Alice Drue.
Venmo - https://www.venmo.com/u/Robin-Culbertson-6. Please specify if you wish the money to go toward rent and other store expenses, or to Alice Drue.
GoFundMe - https://gofund.me/e11ed1e9 - SHARING the GoFundMe link has been super helpful. THANK YOU! All this will go to Chris and Alice Drue.
Thanks again so very much for your support. It really means the world to us!
