Newsletter 3/23/20

Hello!

Wow! A LOT has happened in a week. I hope this finds you all safe and sound.

Although we're still working in the store, we have decided to do even more to try to "flatten the curve." Monday, March 22, we will be open by appointment and offer curbside delivery in addition to our $5 Flat Rate Shipping. If you're in the neighborhood and would like to drop in, just call first.

Please leave a message if you reach our voicemail so that we may help you!

Important announcements appear at the top of our website front page. Check there first!

Make a Mask

As you've no doubt heard, there's a critical shortage of medical masks. You can help! As I was researching this, I found different needs, different opinions, and different ways to make masks.  Although washable cotton masks don't protect as well as N95 masks, in some cases, something is better than nothing.

While I'm trying to sort out the particulars of exactly what is needed in our community, it has become clear to me that our help would be greatly appreciated. Therefore, take a look online at the many different patterns available, and start making masks from your stash. Someone somewhere will be grateful.

If you need fabric to make masks, we have set aside fabric to give away FREE for this purpose!  If you would like fabric for masks, please call us or check out our website, where you can order free fabric for this purpose. Do you need polyester thread for your masks? Add that to your order! Polyester thread is stronger than cotton, although this project is also a good way to use up odd colors of cotton thread you may have accumulated. Mask fabric will be available to pick up in store by appointment, curbside by appointment, or shipped. We will be charging the $5 Flat Rate shipping for mask fabric that is shipped. It's uncomfortable for me to charge shipping, but fabric is heavy!!  Please consider adding some fabric or a kit for yourself to your order. We would appreciate that. (And it's still just $5 for shipping!)

We're also waiting for more information on partnering with one of our fabric manufacturers (our wonderful partner Andover Fabrics) for mask kits. We'll post more info on our website as we get it. I'll also be letting you know how to get these masks to places that need them as the information becomes available. If you know of a local need, let us know at ashevillecottonco@gmail.com. Everything about this is changing rapidly, so please check our website frequently for updates.

Online Shopping

Check out our new online store here!

Thanks to your incredible support, we are still doing business, although definitely not as usual! The girls have been working tirelessly on our brand-new Online Shop. We literally launched it overnight. I'm so proud of them! We are working hard to add new items throughout the day.

Also, if you can think of anything you need that you don't see on our site (perhaps to match something you're working on), give us a call. We'll give you a number or email to send pictures to so we can match it with the perfect fabric. We've been doing this for years, so we've got lots of experience with that.

We will ship almost anything for a flat rate of $5, and free shipping on orders over $100.

We (and other small businesses you normally patronize) greatly appreciate any business you can send our way!

Help With Your Sewing Machine

Call us with any questions you have about your sewing machine. We have lots of experience helping people over the phone with machine issues. We can usually help even with sewing machine brands we don't sell. We want to keep you sewing!

How About a NEW Machine?!

What better time to get to know a new machine? We love to match people with their "sew mates!" Many of our machines are listed on our website, www.ashevillecottonco.com, with my own personal notes about why I love each one, but it's even easier to call us so we can discuss your needs. We have a variety of methods of getting a new machine to you (including a lift on the machine shipping ban in many cases), and of course, making sure you know how to use it once you get it! We do have financing options available, as always.

The Bernina Spring Sale is still happening! I know many of you were waiting for this sale. Click here for more information.

The Baby Lock March specials continue, including great bundle offers! Check them out here and give us a call.

The Janome 99th Anniversary sale is still going on! You can see it here.

If you need a machine right away, we can definitely help! We have more than 40 machines from which to choose, either in stock, on the floor ready to go home at special pricing, or pre-loved!  Here's a list of current New in Box, Floor Models priced to go, and Pre-Loved machines. Call us if you are interested in a new machine, and we'll help you narrow it down.

Customer Quilt Show

Spring is traditionally the time for our annual Customer Quilt Show to benefit charity. I suspect the money we raise will be especially beneficial for MANNA FoodBank here in Asheville this year. We're going to hold off announcing the dates for this, but I just wanted to remind you to be working on your entries!

Thank You

Thank you again for being able to serve you, and we really appreciate your support. Rest assured, your Asheville Cotton Co. family is constantly thinking of ways to adapt, develop and even grow during this time. Sending love from our family to yours!
